Applications Engineer II

Job Location:

Job Description:
Provide technical oversight and review of project engineering work to support development and implementation of transmission line projects through planning, execution, and closeout phases of projects; perform linear systems analysis; use power electronic applications, RF, and microwave electronics; ensure protection of power systems; communicate technical requirements to external/internal customers; work closely with engineers and designers to deliver design and installation of new and modified transmission and distribution lines and towers; engage in preparation of transmission and distribution line specifications, bid documents, and bid evaluations; assure designs are compliant with applicable codes and regulations; perform all aspects of design for high voltage and EHV Overhead Transmission line projects (line routing, structure knowledge, and line analysis); provide insulator and hardware selection, conductor wire selection and technical support for customers; coordinate with internal and external teams on transmission line projects for world’s top electric utilities; assist in identification of key client interests and drivers; communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate concerns in performance of projects; serve as overhead transmission line design technical specialist; provide consultation and guidance to project teams, and lead and prepare development of engineering evaluations for project work (development of feasibility, conceptual studies, and project scope definition).

Job Requirements:
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering plus coursework, internships, or experience to include linear systems analysis, power electronic applications, RF, and microwave electronics, and protection of power systems. Experience and skills may be gained through academic coursework and concurrently while pursuing academic studies.
